In what seems to be dramatic, the Lagos ban on Motorcycle and Tricycle in major parts of Lagos is birthing further disruption in the Lagos logistics sector as GIG Logistic a member of GIG Group set to partner ORide, others on deliveries in Lagos.
This is coming a few days after Gokada, a motorcycle-hailing startup pivots to food delivery company, partners Jumia on deliveries.
The ban also affected Gokada which resulted in laying-off of large of its workforce.
The new pivots in business will see Lagos as a logistic focused state. Other startups will now leverage on the loophole in the Lagos ban that did not affect logistic businesses.
We gathered that the talks with OPay’s ORide with Africa’s leading logistics company are ongoing for a possible partnership.
OPay official that is close to the matter confirmed the partnership talk but gives no further information towards the fruitfulness of the proposed partnership.
In addition, GIG Lead, expansion and growth Odafe Ojonah confirms the company has already concluded a partnership with another motorcycle-hailing startup, 1st Ride. The bikes of 1st Ride are already integrated into the GIG Logistic brand.
